address book, turboftp writingto c:\program files\turboftp

Postby markburke » Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:51 pm

Would like to know if there is a way to locate the address book (fileaddrbk.dat) on another directory besides c:\program files\turboftp, and to do this in the installation by default. I am working in a software packaging scenario. Thanks for your response asap. :?:

Let me know more detail about how you want to access the address book from multiple instances of TurboFTP.

package scenario

Postby markburke » Mon Mar 26, 2007 2:54 pm

The software packaging scenario may require the address book file to be located in a directory which is writeable by the user. The c:\documents and settings\{user} directory is writeable. However all directories under c:\program files are not. Unfortunately on the first install, the address book file is written to during the install under c:\program files\turboftp. Is there a way to change the installation, in order to locate the address book file under another directory, right at first install ?

Unchecking the "store program settings in turboftp.ini" will allow you to use the user data directory for address book. It how ever has to be done manually.

In your case an installer new switch is needed to have the user data folder as the default address book path. We will add this option soon. Thanks.
