Bug with sound events

Postby petoetje » Mon Feb 19, 2007 2:21 pm

The latest version 5.30.572 contains a bug ; the sound settings on the event tab are not saved. The sounds work only when set as the program is running, but no longer work after the program was exited and at next program startup.

Sound events not working

I's definitely NOT working here !
I thaught it was because my sounds reside on another partition [E:] than the one the program occupies [D:], so I put them in the install directory D:. Makes no difference.

The 'turboftp.ini' file doesn't contain anything that resembles a switch telling the software it has to enable the sounds, as when the checkboxes are checked. The checkboxes revert back to unchecked after exiting the program.
From my 'turboftp.ini' :
...
XferCmplSnd=E:\WS_FTP-GELUIDEN\bestandsoverdracht_geslaagd.wav
ConnSnd=E:\WS_FTP-GELUIDEN\verbinding_geslaagd.wav
DiscSnd=
FtpErrSnd=E:\WS_FTP-GELUIDEN\verbinding_mislukt.wav
NetErrSnd=E:\WS_FTP-GELUIDEN\er_ging_iets_fout.wav
OverwriteSnd=
...

One possible cause is that you have multiple instances of TurboFTP running.

I checked the running processes list after exiting the program and it wasn't there anymore, so it shut down properly. And gone were the sound events too at next startup... So, still no sound events.

Hi,

After you add sound to the event. Please try and check if you can play the sound manually. There is a play button besides the check box you can check with it manually.

Tested that. All sounds play fine. Checked the checkboxes.
Checkboxes appear unchecked at next startup of the program, and gone are the sound events...

Hi,

Please download the latest version from this link. http://www.tbsoftinc.com/download/tbftp5.30.574.exe.

Remove the older version and install this new version and check it out.

Did just that. Doesn't make any difference : the sound events still revert back to their unchecked state after program exit !

When I hit OK sound events work fine.
However, when I then exit the program, restart it, the checkboxes have become unchecked, and no sound events anymore.

Hi,

Please remove the tick mark from the option called " Reset to "Do noting" at program start " and check it out.

The new release 5.30.574 should solve this problem.

Sound events issue 'solved'

Postby petoetje » Sat Mar 10, 2007 5:19 pm

Unchecking 'Reset to "Do nothing" at program start' does indeed solve the problem, but the inconsistency between these settings should not have been possible in the first place, and version 5.30.574 does NOT solve this inconsistency !
Anyway, thanks for the support, you were most helpful. :)

What do you mean by "inconsistency between these settings"? The sound settings now have nothing to do with "Reset to do nothing" option. Did you still find sound settings not saved after restarting TurboFTP? Do get the build 574 from www.tbsoftinc.com/download.htm.
